Blind Date: Pharmacist Amy and plumber Scott talked about work, hobbies and of course dogs

Amy, 29, says:

I got there stupidly early. It’s just who I am as a person. I was about 20 minutes early. So I went to the toilet, made sure I looked okay, then went to the bar and told them I had a reservation, and the bartender said, “oh, you’re here for the date”. They were very excited.

Blind Date: Pharmacist Amy and plumber Scott talked about work, hobbies and of course dogs

Scott arrived. The first thing he did was apologize for being late, even though he was early too. We went for the awkward handshake, half hug. We sat down, ordered a drink, and he said, “tell me about you,” I instantly forgot every detail about myself.

He was sweet. We got along very well. We seem to have many things in common. We found out quite early that he doesn’t like camping. He doesn’t enjoy fishing, which is excellent news for me. I can’t stand either one. He thought it was a bit of a red flag that I don’t drink coffee. But thought it was hilarious that I was drinking an espresso martini.

Interestingly enough, his brother-in-law is also a pharmacist. I was chatting with my sister-in-law afterward and she said he was a plumber, which they loved as we don’t have one in the family. Unfortunately for Scott, we already have a pharmacist in the family, so I’m a little redundant.

He has a dog called Marshmallows. He took it so well that I immediately said I was allergic to dogs. It’s not that I don’t like dogs. Dogs are fantastic.

Scott also plays roller hockey, which I thought was cool. He is renovating his house, which is great.

Our personalities more or less complement each other. I’m a very tense, type-A character, and he’s laid back and rolls with the punches. So it’s nice to have that balance.

He then took me back to my car, which I loved so much. I would like to see him again. In the end, we exchanged numbers. I want to think there could be some romantic potential. We could go for another drink.

Verdict: 9/10

Scott, 32, says:

I felt pretty good about the date. I didn’t worry about it. I tried not to think too much about it. I was more concerned that because I’m Perth and so small, I was thinking about what if I was in a relationship with someone I know. She doesn’t know my brother-in-law, but she’s heard of him. He is also a pharmacist. I notice that a lot of people know him. He is a great character.

It was very good. I only got two hours of parking because I thought it wouldn’t be more than two hours. But we could have stayed longer.

I walked into The Elford and was shown to the table. Amy got there first. I was quite a on time, but she said she wouldn’t wait too long there. We sat down and got to know each other over a drink. We later ordered a few share plates and cocktails.

One of the first things I noticed was that she is beautiful, and we are both quite easygoing and down to earth, which is a plus.

We were talking about the usual, like what we do for work. She’s a pharmacist, so she told me about that and she works in a hospital. We talked about our hobbies and family, that sort of thing. I was talking about my dog. She didn’t have a pet because she was allergic, but we were talking about my pet because it’s a big part of my life. I also do a bit of roller hockey and go to the gym, that sort of thing.

Everyone probably says this, but we both had to get up for work the next morning. I didn’t want to be late, and my parking spot was already gone. When we were done, a walked her to her car, which was close to where I had parked. I got her number, so I’d like to get to know her better and catch up again. I thought it all went pretty well.

Verdict: 8/10
